Our Story |

Shyacres has been a small hobby kennel since 1977. We took a break from breeding around 8yrs ago and took up Professional Handling full time. We have recently stopped handling and are breeding again on a limited basis. The story of our breeding and showing our Poms for 30+ years follows.
We started in 1972 when I inherited a 10# cream Pom. His name was Baby Jay. When I went off to college I placed
him with my future inlaws. Years later when Baby Jay passed, my husband(Charlie) and I purchased a breeding pair of Poms for my inlaws. My father-in-law sent me to show his male Pom in 1977 and I never looked back! All of my current dogs go back to Ch.LLL Fancy Gold MoonWalker,ROM & Ch. Mac's Maybe I Will,ROMX. This was a combination that really clicked for me! Thru the last 23 yrs. of breeding and showing I also reared two beautiful daughters. Shy is now a mortgage broker in Baton Rouge. On December 29th 2000, Shy was married to Jonathan Tittlebaum in a fairy tale wedding at St. Joseph's Cathedral in downtown Baton Rouge. They were taken from the church to the reception in a horse drawn carriage! It was truly a blessed and lovely occasion! Jessica was married on May 3, 2003 to David Johnson at our home church with a fun reception at our old home in Leesville. On Nov. 22, 2005 we were blessed with the addition of the two most beautiful twin granddaughters. They are my oldest daughter Shy's babies! We are so thrilled and being a grandma is great!! The last 23 yrs. I have also been the owner of Precious Pup Grooming and Boarding. Also head groomer. I recently retired and closed my shop. Our biggest claim to fame has been our Ch.ShyAcres Our Man Friday. His story is told in pictures on his webpage! Way beyond his big wins and wonderful pups, has been his homelife with us! He has been ourmost special pet ever! He was dad's "Little Buddy", the girls "Little Brother", my "French Fry", his handler Adrian Alford's "Fry Bear", our couch potato and bedwarmer. There will never be another quite like him! We have started a new chapter in our dog show world. After stopping breeding for 8 years and taking up Professional Handling, and quite successfully, we have retired from handling and are again breeding (VERY LIMITEDLY!). We offer at stud CH.LaRajus Cosmic Kio who was #7 dog in the past and is a multiple Group Winner! His first litter produced two Champions! We recently obtained co-ownership of Vintage Shyacres Crown Royal (Roy) who we will be showing soon! He is by our CH.Shyacres Our Man Samson and bred by our dear friend Ellen Takayama of Vintage Poms in Hawaii. |
